DJ set at Whitman Film & Art Festival 13 & 14 July

I’ll be playing a NO WAVE inspired DJ set (Sat 13th somewhere between 6pm & 8pm at Chalkboard) at the Whitman Independent Film & Art Festival this coming weekend (13 & 14 July). It’s happening at THE BIOSCOPE and connected CHALKBOARD in the Maboneng district in Jeppe downtown Johannesburg. Scroll down to see the amazing line-up of films and entertainment.
Of interest is the documentary BLANK CITY directed by Celine Denhier which covers the NY No Wave movement of the late 70s/early 80s. Check out the trailer.

The Whitman Independent in Association with The Bioscope Independent Cinema present a two day independent film and art festival showcasing the the works of various South African filmmakers, musicians, artists and independent video game producers as well as offering a retrospective into historically progressive South African cinema, open panels with the films directors and a look at the history and progression of the New York No Wave Cinema Movement including a Premier of New York Independent feature film “Pavillion”.
